FRISIAN WHITEWORK SILK SAMPLER with Yvette Stanton

Yvette Stanton is an Australian embroidery designer known as the Whitework Queen. She has written books on historical embroidery, and is a very experienced teacher of embroidery here and overseas.
Yvette researched Frisian whitework embroidery in museums and collections in the Netherlands. and wrote a book “Frisian Whitework: Dutch Embroidery from Friesland”. Yvette is the ideal teacher to help you explore the world of Frisian whitework in this beautiful sampler

This iridescent beetle brooch uses actual beetle wings, with gilt and coloured metal threads, to create a three-dimensional beetle. Techniques cover French methods of working detached elements and traditional goldwork techniques including using pearl purl, chipping, and the use of twisted and couching threads.

Learn the basic stitching using seed beads following a patterned fabric in the Japanese style. Kit will include fabric, beads and small cylindrical box.

Heya. I’m looking for a beginners course on embroidery in Geelong-either December or the new year. I have basic knitting skills & cross stitch, but no embroidery experience. If you could advise of any suitable classes, dates/days and prices that would be much appreciated.

Not sure if you received a reply as most replies are via email.
Check our Sit and Sew meetings for times and place 2nd Monday of each month- we have materials there for new beginners. I suggest this is your best option for starting out. Our classes list on the classes page also gives details of classes that will be run in 2020. You can download this list. It will be added to as classes are added. Hi Claudia. Unfortunately this workshop has already started and I do not think there will be another thread painting one this year
I have just listed the current classes on the classes page, you may find another you like.
There will be more classes posted next semester.
