Patchwork scrappy quilt by Glenys Sikorski
We had our Annual General Meeting in October this year, as we will do from now on. It used to get very busy around Christmas time so now we can just celebrate!
A new committee was elected with Wendy Findlay, President of the EGV presiding. A very welcome guest along with Jenni Smith.
Committee for 2020 is: Leonie Lister (President), Jenny Bakos, Yvonne Davidson, Ann Lawrence (Secretary), Marilyn Marshall (Treasurer), Anne Monagle, Gillian Norris, Dianne Richmond and Marion Dines (co-opted as minutes Secretary)
Christmas will be celebrated by many of our groups, as well as the Big Sit and Sew Bring- a – Plate shared lunch on Monday 9th December. All are welcome to this meeting at St David’s Church Hall starting at 10am. Bring something to sew and join in the fun.
We have some busy Guidance groups with a recent Patchwork group showing off some
Group scrappy quilt
of their work. This quilt was put together by Lyn Hughes using blocks made by group members in a workshop on scrappy blocks. Random choices made for a colourful finish.
Queen Mary at our June Meeting
May June July and August find many of us indoors by the fire stitching, or travelling north for the sunshine. We did venture out for our Birthday celebrations in June and welcomed our new State President Linda Hagar. Four members Hilde Brenner, Barbara Coote, Marj Kavanagh and Dorothy Cavill have earned their 25 year membership brooches.
Meetings have, however, shown off some of our work on themes. In May we honoured Mothers and several pieces embroidered by our mothers were on display.
June’s Queens Birthday included a Mary Queen of Scots doll. July’s theme was the appropriate Woolly Warmth.
August proved that bags are popular items to stitch as many and varied ones appeared on show. September will show that Spring has sprung with a Floral and Botanical theme.October gives us a chance to show off our Brooches.
Eco Prints at the recent Geetag workshop
